The site is infuriatingly opaque. #268

Yes, navigation is almost all of the problem. I had no idea there was an "about" page because there isn't an "about" link on the front page. Confusingly enough it only shows up as "about" on the pages you reach from the about page. I highly recommend reading Steve Krug's well-regarded "Don't Make Me Think!". For example, the navigation confusion could be resolved by making sure you pass what he calls the "Trunk Test". Thanks for taking my gripe seriously. =^) |
I still don't have the hang of doing clean pull requests. Please see #304. |
Renaming the link to the about page as "about" probably won't cut it. The about page comes off to me sounding almost like Vooza marketing - all the 'gittip is like kickstarter but for people' stuff. Unfortunately I'm not the only one: https://twitter.com/stevelosh/status/252960807237861376 I think it should probably start off with some kind of simple no-nonsense summary at the very start in big letters: "You pay x to y dollars per week to people based on github or twitter username" |
Something else that's not well-marked is the History page, linked from the profile page. (This came up w/ @ericholscher in IRC.) |
@whit537 I wasn't even aware of the History page. I'm going to open an issue to add a link to that page to the user's profile, so maybe I won't forget and will actually do it. |
@therabidbanana How's about look now, Vooza-wise? |
Definitely reads better now. It's much clearer about the goal of people On Tuesday, December 18, 2012, Chad Whitacre wrote:

@TrevorBramble Does the new design resolve this issue? |
@whit537 You are so awesome for taking my casual grousing and making gold of it. It really looks great. Awesome work. |
Well, you were right. :-) |
