• Micronaut 3 GA release (3.1.3 was just released)

• Gradle 7.3 RC3 with full support for Java 17

• Spock 2.0 release, from 2021-05-17

• Groovy eclipse plugin

• Intellij EAP many Groovy 4 features & Grails 5

Groovy 4 status

• 4.0.0-beta-1 released just over a month ago

• 4.0.0-beta-2 release soon

• RCs soon after that

• Still targetting end of year (or soon after) for final, it will depend on feedback

  • Language features: Records, Sealed classes, Switch expressions, Type annotations, Improved Ranges

  • Library improvements: Language integrated query (think LINQ/JOOQ), TOML support, JavaShell, Contracts

  • GDK enhancements, built-in macros/type checkers

  • Full JDK 17/18 support

  • Consolidation & structuring: maven coords, no split packaging, indy-only, parrot-only
