We find that this package has dependency on iron:router. If you guys don't really need iron:router, we suggest to remove the dependency or use a weak dependency.

Haven't tried flow-router. Iron:router is a pretty hard dependency at this
stage.

Using iron:router and flow-router is terrible. It causes two yields in one page.

+1 for removing iron:router dependency and make it easier to use houston together with flow-router.

+1 for removing the iron:router hard dependency (also using flow-router). Any chance of this happening?

Any updates +1 for flow router it seems that this is going to be the core routing - https://forums.meteor.com/t/iron-router-becoming-incompatible-switch-to-flow-router-or-wait-for-mdg-router/7233/22

It's also being recommended by everyone

I don't think that flow-router is going to be core routing (see AMA with Slava Kim: https://crater.io/posts/biSDc8kgfvqqFMa4M/ama-with-slava-kim-august-18th-at-1pm-edt-10am-pdt) but still +1 for possibility to choose between iron-router and flow-router.

Also you could use nicolaslopezj:router-layer as oriod does.

AMA is very old, if you check the meteor forums and meteor announcement it's recommended to move over to flow router

@chompomonim chompomonim commented Oct 10, 2015

@almogdesign AMA I mentioned is 2 months old and Sashko recommendation from forum you mentioned is almost 3 months old, so ...

Anyway, at the moment flowrouter is best and most supported solution. From other hand iron:router is still alive (last release was yesterday!).

I was referring to the following post which is less than two months if I'm correct, https://forums.meteor.com/t/iron-router-becoming-incompatible-switch-to-flow-router-or-wait-for-mdg-router/7233/21

I'm all for Iron-Router that is what I use. But it seems that the major part of the community is moving over to Flow Router which is also been recommended by a number of people. As a package owner I think it's correct to support both

This forum post is from Jul 20. We still don't know exactly, but a few weeks after Sashko told: "I think you should switch to flow router.", Slava to the question "Is Meteor going to have its official router package? If so, will it be compatible with Flow Router?" answered "I don't know! If they will, I don't see any compelling reasons to be compatible with anything." and another quote: "I wouldn't call anything "an official endorsement" unless it was published on Meteor.com's blog. I do think, Meteor's routing story needs some work."

So, nothing concrete at the moment. I do believe, that in the future there could be event more routing solution around and if do some effort it's better to use something like nicolaslopezj:router-layer which I hope will be support 'official router' as well, when it will be released.

Ideally this package sd be decoupled from any router and work with whichever one is installed.

This package not using flow router pretty much makes it unusable for me..
I have played around with it, and it works and looks amazing, but iron router constantly telling me no route is defined for all my routes just is a dealbreaker!
Any news on this?

If you are using flow router, check this out: https://github.com/sachinbhutani/flow-db-admin . It also has some other dependencies, but for me it is a perfect match because I already use those packages.

nicolaslopezj:router-layer doesn't seem to work well. While flow-router used in my project works fine now with this package installed, Houston's login page won't load — flow-router takes over.

I just hit this problem, trying to migrate from Iron to Flow, and it took forever to track down because I couldn't even track it in dependencies. Even that script out there for displaying dependencies doesn't seem to work with ubuntu/bash somehow.

I would check out @loredanacirstea 's suggestion of flow-db-admin but I had already moved from bootstrap to materialize about 6 months back, and that sounds a bit messy. Otherwise I'd be fine with its other dependencies...

I can live without houston:admin for now but unfortunately I had added a fair amount of testing of things like SMS, push notifications, etc, which I guess now also has to be refactored.

I'm in the process of switching to flow router and had to uninstall Houston to get rid of the message "Oops, there's no route defined" at the bottom of every page.

Guys, just a heads up, I'm guessing most of you are planning to use this as a DB GUI tool. At least that was my intention when I stumbled upon it a few months ago. But I've moved on to MongoChef, which is an excellent Mongo GUI, so can only recommend it.
This package seems dead anyway.

Anyone had this error?

Just stop using this package, it's obviously been abandoned by the devs. There are more than enough replacements.
