Right now, we email the host separately. It's a little startling to get a flat "not approved" out of band with the explanation email. It would be better if the explanation were sent simultaneously.

I think it's debatable whether the explanation should be public-visible. Sometimes the reasons might be more personal based on host behavior. Perhaps visibility should be limited to events team and the host. That would put it at the same visibility level as events@ itself.
