I'm running fedora16. Any help would be apreciated.

Hm. Fedora? Try running yum search libidn, I'm not sure what the package name is on Fedora.

sudo yum install libidn - that's the command to install the needed libraries.

It's also entirely possible that you're running into the dangers of the multiarch system that the various linux distros are still implementing (although I'm not 100% sure Fedora got on that bandwagon)...

@steveklabnik - it might be time to start doing separate builds for the various linux's, since the various Ubuntus require two different builds in order to cover 10.04 and 11.10 (and everything in-between), and then you've got Fedora and Arch. (I hate libraries now), or moving all the libraries into shoes itself, although that's something to discuss at length on the IRC channel or on the mailing list.

@knewter I'll see if I can make a build for Fedora 16 - since I need to get to the bottom of why it's doing this anyway, it won't be a problem to do that for you. Sorry this didn't work "out of the box". :(

Agree with @jrgifford about some separate Linux distro builds. A lot of Support questions coming in on hackety.com for Linux missing these lib files.

Appears that kids are being given Linux on an old PC for learning and hitting missing library problems. Run into that myself with my kids.

I'm happy to set up some VM's for testing/builds.

Yep - bring it on. I'll find time, whatever dates suit the list.
