Known issues:

  • user confirmation ("Continue") is necessary for new questions:
Go back to the menu and correct this problem?

It is normally required for you to create a separate partition for the boot
loader code in order to boot your system in EFI mode. This partition should
be marked for use as an "EFI boot partition" and should be at least 35 MB
in size. Note that this is not the same as a partition mounted on /boot.
 .
If you do not go back to the partitioning menu and correct this error, boot
loader installation may fail later, although it may still be possible to
install the boot loader to a partition.

(*) Note: Kubuntu has no progress bar during second part of installation.

Supported features:

see 1804r331

Special notes for the rEFInd branch:

  • Differences:
    • in BIOS mode: no difference but also no advantage
    • in UEFI mode: the additional boot manager rEFInd is a workaround for some GRUB problems

The Wubiuefi configuration for rEFInd provides:

  • a boot entry for the installed OS (environment icon, e.g. Ubuntu icon)
  • a boot entry for Windows (Windows icon)
  • optional boot entries for other installed OS
  • a boot entry for GRUB (penguin icon)
  • a boot entry for the MokManager (key icon)
  • ......

The boot entry for the installed OS provides boot options like GRUB menu (see Adjusting Boot Options ).

If the boot entry for the installed OS does not work, the boot entry for GRUB provides the standard menus. There are reports that the standard GRUB menus do work even if they don't work work without rEFInd.
