Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
The regex used to validate domain names does not permit FQDNs, i.e. domain names that end in a dot. E.g. foobar.com., hello., etc.

Describe the solution you'd like
Change the validation regex so it ends in \.?$.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Not changing the regex, therefore disallowing FQDNs.
