Fix was already applied 3.7 and 3.8, only 3.6 was missing.

I didn't figure out that KeyStateMarker logic itself yet, but the code and the according tests look very familiar with the 3.8 code. Looks like a proper forward port to me. So I assume we can merge this once the PR builder is green.
