Blocket.se Feeds

2020-01-02: Sorry, no longer maintained! Feel free to clone, update and set up your own server.

Ruby script that provides an Atom (RSS, kind of) feed of Blocket.se search results. Blocket.se is a Swedish classifieds site.

There is a hosted version of this script on http://blocket.nyh.name, but you may want to set it up on your own server if they block it, or if the hosted version gets overloaded.

Development

bundle
rackup
open http://localhost:9292

On Heroku

The script used to be Hosted on Heroku until they limited their free offering. You may still be able to run it there with something like this:

gem install heroku # Install tools.
heroku create blocket-some-unique-name # Create server.
heroku addons:add memcachier:dev # Add memcached.
git push heroku # Deploy app.
heroku open # See it in your browser.

# Optional:
heroku addons:add newrelic:stark # Performance analytics.

You will probably also need to add memcachier to Gemfile and run bundle.

CGI on Apache

The included .htaccess used to work with Apache and hopefully still does.

The path to request becomes e.g.
