The transform: scale(...) CSS property results in poor resolution in many cases. Reported cases include:

For example, this user wanted to use an SVG as a background image for the presentation, creating a slide that is data-scale="10" while others are the normal scale 1. This works, except that the background image resolution is what it would be in unscaled size, essentially using 10^2 times less pixels than it should at the size it is eventually shown in. This results in a very unsharp image, in many cases to the extent of being unusable.

Related ticket in upstream impress.js is looking at interesting solutions to allow fonts to rendered at the optimal resolution.
