Maybe the symlink issue was fixed, because I didn't have to execute sublime2/copy for Sublime to consider my settings.

I am using build 2181, 22 February 2012

The latest beta build consolidated a whole bunch of settings files (and I bet the symlink problem may be fixed too). I'll have to look into this and see what's changed and if any of this is needed anymore.

I followed the settings guide and only kept those files.

Same here. Symlinking the User directory works with no problem for me.
