i just installed Mavericks last night and noticed some issues with Clicktoplugin (clicktoflash also) when i try to watch a video on youtube. (Other sites seem fine so far).
In general Clicktoplugin seems to work fine with the new Safari in Mavericks. I also have Perian installed and i am also on the Youtube HTML5 Trial.
When i want to watch a video where the Youtube HTML5 player doesn't start up, everything seems fine, the Preview loads, the clicktoplugin overlay, the source selector shows too... Like it does on Mountain Lion too.
Now if i click on the html5 replacement, the video would normally start to load and play...
Now on Mavericks it just says "loading" and nothing happens.. (see attached Image).
I tried this with several videos, they all won't load...
Is this a Youtube Problem or a Mavericks bug?
Thanks for reading and keep up the awesome work! I love your plugins!
I can think of two explanations:
Thanks for your reply!
I tried to watch MP4 Videos... Right click and Download doesn't work either. Safaris Download window says that i'm not allowed to access this resource.. strange.
I also re-installed clicktoflash and clicktoplugin, just to make sure...
OK, it's definitely an issue with the YouTube killer then. I'll get back to you later, have to run now. In the meantime please try to replace the line "killers/YouTube.js" in the preferences with "https://raw.github.com/hoyois/plugin-to-html5/master/YouTubeXHR.js", close the prefs, and try a YouTube page.
That works fine - awesome! All the videos that didn't play earlier are working now flawlessly :-)
I also noticed something strange.. on my iMac (which i updated to Mavericks an hour ago) Youtube Video playback worked fine "out of the box" (Clicktoflash 2.8.8). I didn't change anything.
Thanks again :-)
YouTube actually changed something today that breaks the old killer for some videos (not all of them, though, so it may not be the cause of your problem). Can you try with "https://raw.github.com/hoyois/plugin-to-html5/master/YouTube-tmp.js" instead?
Same is happening for me (no other extensions). I have tried both of the new killers and they don't work. It only does it for monetized videos I think because other ones will just load in HTML5 and not be affected.
EDIT: I was being a bit dumb and didn't close the prefs, it works perfectly now. Thanks!
The YouTube-tmp.js works fine too.
Tried several videos so far and they work with both of the new Youtube Killers. The new one seems a bit faster though. (just feels faster somehow, don't know why)
@Generalstussner @tunasushi Thanks! And thanks for the report, it could have been days before I noticed this otherwise. Yes, the last one is faster, because it works without fetching any data over the internet. The YouTubeXHR one, on the other hand, has higher-res preview images, so you may prefer it if you have a fast connection. The extension has always contained the fast one. Anyway, I will update the extension today.
