Use Fabric patterns directly inside ChatGPT on Chromium browsers.
The extension adds a compact strip above ChatGPT's composer so you can pick a pattern, toggle augmentation on or off, and optionally request markdown output without leaving the chat.
This is an independent hobby project. It is not affiliated with OpenAI, ChatGPT, or the Fabric repository.
- Integrated composer strip - sits in ChatGPT's eyebrow row (not a floating overlay)
- Pattern picker - choose any Fabric pattern (for example
extract_wisdom/extract_patterns) - Apply to messages - when enabled, your next send is augmented with the selected system prompt
- Markdown output - optional tweak so patterns ask for markdown-friendly replies
- Turn off after send - automatically disables augmentation after one message
- Persisted settings - preferences stay across sessions via
chrome.storage
Load it as an unpacked extension:
- Clone this repository, or download and extract the ZIP.
- Open Chrome (or another Chromium browser) and go to
chrome://extensions/. - Enable Developer mode.
- Click Load unpacked and select this project directory.
- Open chatgpt.com. The Fabric strip should appear above the composer when you're signed in.
- After pulling updates, click Reload on the extension card in
chrome://extensions/.
- Click Fabric on the strip to open settings.
- Choose a pattern, then turn Apply to messages on.
- Write your message as usual and send. The extension prepends the pattern's system prompt before ChatGPT receives it.
- Use Turn off after send if you only want one augmented message, or toggle the strip off anytime.
ChatGPT's UI changes often. This release targets the web UI around the September 14, 2026 notes and is written to tolerate composer remounts and ProseMirror updates better than earlier versions.
Works with
- ChatGPT web (
chatgpt.com/chat.openai.com) - Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, and similar)
- Signed-in ChatGPT sessions
Does not support
- Other AI / LLM tools (Claude, Gemini, and similar)
- Firefox or Safari
- Guest / logged-out ChatGPT
Not every Fabric pattern behaves the same through ChatGPT; some may produce uneven results.
- Guest ChatGPT is intentionally unsupported. The strip only mounts when you're authenticated.
- Pattern prompts are pulled from GitHub; first-time or update syncs need network access.
