Windows helpers

The following helpers ("platform glue") are installed by the Windows installer by default:

• Freenet Tray Manager
• Freenet Launcher
• Freenet Starter
• Freenet Stopper
• Windows Update Script

Updating Freenet on Windows

Freenet will, by default, automatically update its own files through the Freenet network. However, platform specific things such as the Windows system service, the Windows helpers, the Java wrapper we are using, and similar things, are not currently automatically kept up-to-date.

In order to get the latest versions of these parts of Freenet, we recommend reinstalling Freenet at least once every major version. Be sure to back up your identity and configuration files first.
