Expected Behavior

More seamless behavior without artifacts

Reproduction Instructions

Resize tiling windows via keyboard.
Open/close GUI applications

Environment

Output of i3 --moreversion 2>&-:

i3 version:
Binary i3 version: 4.16 (2018-11-04) © 2009 Michael Stapelberg and contributors
Running i3 version: 4.16 (2018-11-04) (pid 16689) abort…)
Loaded i3 config: /home/omen-x/.config/i3/config (Last modified: Sat 01 Dec 2018 05:55:34 PM MSK, 6691 seconds ago)

The i3 binary you just called: /usr/bin/i3
The i3 binary you are running: i3

i3 config

- Linux Distribution & Version: Arch Linux x86_64 / 4.19.4-arch1-1-ARCH
- Are you using a compositor (e.g., xcompmgr or compton): compton, also tried xcompmgr
- GPU: Radeon RX550

compton.conf

What I already tried:

  • different values in the compton.conf, enabling/disabling compton
  • switching between 75/60 refresh rate
  • running i3 inside Mate also produces the issue
  • In GNOME(without i3) I don't have the issue
  • With awesome wm the issue also can't be reproduced and layout/windows updates more seamless
  • Tried different video drivers/configs

I've found related ticket, and i understand that the problem probably related to GPU, but with Awesome wm I don't have this problem

I don’t see a link to logs.i3wm.org. Did you follow https://i3wm.org/docs/debugging.html? (In case you actually provided a link to a logfile, please ignore me.)
