[ ] Other (Please describe in detail)

Current Behavior

When I use dmenu_extended_run from i3 with a shortcut it does not open a specific ods file.
If I use dmenu_extended_run from a teminal with python ~/dmenu-extended/ it opens that specific file. Another ods file opens with both methods. The two files are in the same location.
The difference is that the file that does not open has UTF-8 characters in the name. If I rename the file and rebuild the cache it opens so it seems the combination of i3+dmenu_extended_run cannot handle UTF-8.

Expected Behavior

File with UTF-8 in name should open.

Reproduction Instructions

Try to open a file with å, ä or ö in the name with a shortcut to dmenu_extended_run.

Neither dmenu nor dmenu_extended are developed by us, and all that we do is open a shell to run the command. I assume that the problem is some environment variable issue of some sort.

If I run dmenu_extended_run separately from a terminal it works so I don't see that the issue is with dmenu_extended_run. It does not work when it is started with, in my case win+p
bindsym $mod+p exec --no-startup-id dmenu_extended_run

I got confirmation that it is an dmenu_extended_run issue so closing this.
