Current Behavior

When open an application, move it to other workspace, then open a dialog (open file dialog for example), the dialog appear in previous workspace rather then the current workspace.

Expected Behavior

The dialog appear in the same workspace with its parent.

Reproduction Instructions

  1. Open an application by keyblinding (Visual Studio Code by Win+V in my case) in workspace 1
  2. Move it to workspace 2
  3. Call open file dialog by press Ctrl+O
  4. The open dialog appear in workspace 1

Environment

Output of i3 --moreversion 2>&-:

i3 version: 4.17.1 (2019-08-30) © 2009 Michael Stapelberg and contributors
My i3-config is here: https://pastebin.com/9M4CXvgx
Logfile URL: https://logs.i3wm.org/logs/5654769569890304.bz2
- Linux Distribution & Version: Arch Linux (kernel 5.3.13-arch1-1)
- Are you using a compositor (e.g., xcompmgr or compton): No

NOTE

  • This unexpected behavior only occur when you start application by keyblinding, not by other tools like Rofi.
  • This sometimes happen with other application like chromium, but for VS Code, it happen almost 100%
  • I have found some similar issues, but none of them solution work for me: #3629 and #3383
