async gyro, unable to set anything beside 8K samp frequency #3628

Quick note.

It is not possibile, when choosing to run ASYNC (ALL/GYRO), to select a sample frequency that is not 8K for the gyro.

INAV 2.0.0RC4 both F3/F4

Yes, it changed and we should remove this setting. FC picks "the best" sampling frequency

ack that, but basically it means it will run at 8K and severly restrict the looptime on F3 targets.

Seems like GYRO task when async is selected run at PID loop frequency no matter what.

Ok, this was broken a while ago when we deprecated gyro_sync_denom. There is no such setting anymore but Configurator is still considering it when changing async mode. Similarly, when making decision about gyro sampling frequency firmware only looks at looptime.

Suggestion - introduce new setting to explicitly set desired gyro frequency and modify firmware and configurator accordingly.

Yeah. Even restoring gyro_sync_denom could be ok under another name.

For 2.0 we broke the rule "make sure to sample the gyro as fast as possibile". So filters can be applied without causing too much delay and signal is clean of aliasing. In most of situation this is 8KHz. Running pid loop at 8K doesn't make any sense on any INAV build.

Is the best setting for quads in 2.0 is 4K synced in 2.0?
Perhaps better leaving a note for 2.0 in known issues?

Currenty selecting async gyro processing with like 4K pid loop ends up running async but with 4K gyro loop.
Which is suboptimal compared to 4K synced ,right?
