ID submit: Consider warning when submitting an individual draft, itself replaced by a WG ID #1619
Comments
@rjsparks@nostrum.com commented If a draft has been replaced by anything (not just a wg draft), submit should present a fairly strident warning. |

@suresh.krishnan@ericsson.com commented During submission I check whether the draft has been replaced. If it is, an error is thrown during the submission process under the Revision field of the format "This document has been replaced by " If the draft has been replaced my multiple drafts, all of them will be displayed. |

| by gorry@erg.abdn.ac.ukI'm maybe more prone to mistakes than others - but in the rush to submit
before the deadline, I have (again) uploaded a new revision of a
draft-author file, when actually the particular draft was accepted by a WG
and there was already a draft-ietf-wg version -00 which replaced this.
It's my fault, I shouldn't have been trying to submit at the last minute.
Just a thought though: Is it possible (easy?) (useful?) to cross check
whether a particular draft has been replaced in the ID database and then
issue a warning when trying to upload? I suspect the simplest would be a banner saying this is updating a document replaced by a WG draft - rather than needing any fancy machinery to prompt the user.
