I want to add more scripting languages to ImageJ. Fortunately, there are JSR-223 script engine implementations for lots of languages. See:

In particular, it would be great to add Groovy, although there are lots of good ones.

Groovy is not yet done, but we already support all the ones supported by Fiji, in preparation for Fiji to switch to the ImageJ2 script editor.

We should probably close this with a YAGNI, and address the needs for new scripting languages only when those needs arise. Even better: we should let those who wish to have as-yet-unsupported languages do the work. It's not rocket science (read: we have enough tasks that only we can address, too many, in fact, to address tasks that others can address just the same).

I personally want to add Groovy. I will acquiesce to closing this issue once I have added Groovy support. Or if 2014 comes to a close and I have still not done it, then I will admit defeat on it.
