Default option allows for setting new posts and pages to be published: false by default. When I write, I always start as a draft and only publish when it's done. Normally, the localhost server is fine for that, but sometimes I have multiple drafts going and it would be easy to get confused if I don't remember to change the setting in each individual post/page.

Excellent idea!

I like this idea a lot. Jekyll is going to start supporting native draft support in the next major release, but this will definitely work for now. It will need to be updated to support the new configuration setup, though.

Thanks for the contribution! We definitely want to allow for modifications like this. We're going to implement a means of using templates (in source/_templates, which will fall back on templates we keep in lib/templates) in the next release where you can do just that :-)
