The checklist barchart is static. It would be more compelling if it reflected the checklist filters. For example, filters on taxon=asteraceae and observed=yes
http://www.inaturalist.org/check_lists/5720-Pepperwood-Ranch-Natural-Preserve-Check-List?taxon=47604&observed=t would display the right hand barchart

Such dynamic barcharts will be even more useful if we add more checklist filters
#198 to ease confusion over count discrepancies. For example
http://www.inaturalist.org/places/pepperwood-preserve#taxon=47604 returns 7 observed species while http://www.inaturalist.org/check_lists/5720-Pepperwood-Ranch-Natural-Preserve-Check-List?taxon=47604&observed=t returns 8 observed taxa because the former includes a rank=species filter. The difference between these counts is a persistent source of confusion.

But after adding the rank=species filter to the checklist and making the barchart reflect the filter settings would ensure that the prominent counts displayed on the former and http://www.inaturalist.org/check_lists/5720-Pepperwood-Ranch-Natural-Preserve-Check-List?taxon=47604&observed=t&rank=species would match (7).
