This was closed as issue #17, but it's back again on Snow Leopard:
% rails generate jquery:install
fetching jQuery UJS adapter (github HEAD)
/Users/jay/.rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.2-p180/lib/ruby/1.9.1/net/http.rb:678:in `connect': SSL_connect returned=1 errno=0 state=SSLv3 read server certificate B: certificate verify failed (OpenSSL::SSL::SSLError)
I'm getting the same issue on windows XP.
The ruby that comes with Snow Leopard has no problem with this. The Ruby 1.9 that you built with RVM doesn't have access to the OS X Certificate Authority intermediate certificates. That's not an issue with jquery-rails, that's an issue with your ruby build.
Any suggestions on how to recompile it so that it works?
Unfortunately... not really. My longer-term plan to fix this was to patch Thor to include the CA certificates needed to verify github's SSL certificates. Happily, Rails 3.1 has obsoleted this, and jquery-rails 1.0 vendors both the jQuery 1.6 file and the jQuery-UJS library.
The jquery:install generator should really just copy those vendored files instead of downloading them from github and jquery.com. Feel like tweaking the generator and sending me a pull request?
I think there's already a pull request for that - #27
Okay, sounds good. I'll let you know if I find some time and do a pull request (if you or someone else doesn't beat me ;-))
Sorry for a lame question, but could you please clarify what is the point of that generator error? Is it just unable to copy or to download the files required from github? What should I do to make it to work? I mean I ran the generator, but got the same kind of error. Thanks in advance!
