Buildr Package As Exe extension

This buildr extension bridges the gap between your build and calling makensis when creating a .exe installer for Windows.

Makensis is a cross-platform software that creates Win32 installers, you can read more about it here:

You will need to install Makensis on your machine and point Buildr to your .nsi file.

How to use

Here is a typical way to use this extension:

require "package_as_exe"

define("foo", :group => "bar", :version => "1.0.0") do
  package(:exe).with :nsi => _("my.nsi"),
	:values => {"PRODUCT_VERSION" => project.version, "FOOBAR" => Dir.glob(_("target/generated/*")).first)}

The values are made available in the nsi script like this: ${PRODUCT_VERSION}

In your nsi file, we recommend strongly that you use this instruction:

OutFile "${OUTPUT}"

OUTPUT is a variable representing the name of the generated exe file. By mapping it to the package(:exe) file name, you ensure several things:

-the .exe file won't be recreated every time if it is there already (that's a given with Rake).
-the subsequent upload tasks will pick it up automatically.

Not using this variable will likely break the build.

To use a different file name for the .exe, you can of course do: package(:exe, :file => “some_file_name”)

This project packages as a gem named buildr-package-as-exe, so look for the ruby gems installation steps.
