(renamed issue, this is both a client and a ui issue)

Two problems:

a) I need to be able to limit bandwidth usage
b) there's no way to see why ipfs is using so much bandwidth

Hi @voltagex, thanks for reporting. This is indeed an issue with go-ipfs directly. You can track the conversation here ipfs/kubo#3429

Note that since Oct 2016, bandwidth usage has been vastly reduced. We do agree that we need to provide mechanisms for the users to control.
