Maybe I misunderstood the documentation, but my understanding is when I do

%ed
IPython will make a temporary file named: /tmp/ipython_edit_P13VJF.py

Then I input

print(1)

and save & close the file, and in the qtconsole

%ed -p
IPython will make a temporary file named: /tmp/ipython_edit_sXjokP.py

print(1) should be in the editor. But the editor is empty.

It works in the terminal ipython, so I guess the difference is from that in the qtconsole %ed does not automatically run the edited contents.

But it would be great to have %ed -p to open up the last edited contents in qtconsole as well - it is a pain to look for the temporary file name later.
