There seems to be an issue dealing with Mathjax rendering:

Try this in the notebook:

$P(H_{A} | E ) = \displaystyle \frac{P(E|H_{A})P(H_{A})}{P(E)} = \frac{0.3610.5}{0.3610.5 + 0.313*0.5} = 0.53$

When this is displayed it looks like the second equation in this image:

There is an easy work-around. If you right-click in the equation and select HTML-CSS in the "Math Rendeder" option, then the equation looks like the first one in the image above.

Is there an easy fix for this issue?

I can't reproduce this with IPython 0.13.1. Which version of IPython are you using and which Math Render is selected pr. default. Normally this should be HTML-CSS to begin with so changing it to HTML-CSS should not change anything. In addition which browser are you using? Can you reproduce it in a different one?

I'm using Ipython 0.13. It looks like this is an issue in Chrome (in my case, 23.0.1271.97) but not in Firefox. In both the default option in Math Renderer is HTML-CSS but only in Chrome I need to select it again to get a proper rendering. Not sure about Opera or IE.

Thanks

This is strictly a MathJax vs Browser issue, right? IPython doesn't get involved, does it?

I don't think so. This doesn't happen when I tried the same equation in a webpage rendering MathJax. Furthermore, there are some details that fix this issue (such as reselecting HTML-CSS) that belong exclusively to IPython.
