Live: https://github.com/cirosantilli/test-tree-show-blob-wrong-commit

Repo created with:

touch a
git add .
git commit -m 1
touch b
git add .
git commit -m 2

Expected result:

a | 1
b | 2

Actual result:

a | 2
b | 2

What happens is that the blob (here the empty blob) appears under the last commit that contained it.

The empty blob, and specially an empty tree with just a .gitkeep are cases where this appears in real life applications.

GitLab does what I expected: https://gitlab.com/cirosantilli/test-tree-show-blob-wrong-commit/tree/master

@cirosantilli cirosantilli changed the title from Tree show links blobs to the last commit that contained the blob, not last tree it appeared in to Tree show links blobs to the last commit that contained the blob instead of commit that introduced the file Dec 21, 2014

Hey Ciro,

Just wanted to let you know that the team deployed some changes which should have fixed this problem. If you can still reproduce this — please let us know.

Thanks again for the report.

Cheers,
Ivan
