Some localizations broken #3648
Comments
The same issue is known for the Russian localization. |
The trace logging output for these localizations is

Looks like the language options were removed from Finder.app Info panel in 10.6. You can remove them manually by choosing Show Package Contents and delete |
I've tried this one (as I mentioned in private mail to you) but it doesn't work. Cyber duck starts with english menu, but still shows no main window. |
Replying to [comment:4 ipmi@…]:
And if you change the system language in System Preferences → International? |
that way - it works. I was only trying keep polish GUI in SnowLeo, and make Duck running in english mode :) |
Latest build still doesn't work in russian |
Build 5212 - problems with polish still here (I think with russian too). J |
Build 5220 - problem with russian still here |
Replying to [comment:9 Vladimir]:
Thanks for the updates. The issue is still a mystery, tough. |
Latest build 5229 - still no help for this misterious bug - I have tested it in polish, but I think russian version suffers too. J |
Not works in Russian. But there is no ticket 3648 in release notes. |
Replying to [comment:12 BYMASTER]:
It is still an open issue, therefore it is not not in the release notes. |
Can you move aside the preferences file ~/Library/Preferences/ch.sudo.cyberduck.plist and try. Just to make sure. |
I've just tried with no result |
Still doesn't work in build 5230. |
Build 5230, i moved preferences file, still no luck |
I have exactly the same problem (Build 5220 and 5230). System language: slovak and czech |
build 5236 still nothing : ( |
build 5240 still nothing |
Can you post the output from Terminal.app to
|
|
It has been noted before that the localizations work when the application is launched using
Replace |
Replying to [comment:23 dkocher]:
Yes, it works under sudo (cs). |

Without sudo I get:
With sudo the same:

Because this works for some when running with superuser privileges, I suspect this is a confguration issue with the user account and not a broken localization per se. Would you mind trying to launch Cyberduck from a newly created account? (Create new account in System Preferences → Accounts, logout and login again with that test account). If that works we'll have to search what difference there is between the accounts. |
I tried that few seconds ago. I create new account and run cyberduck with no effect. The same happened as on my main account. Cyberduck run but without main window. |
If enable the root account and run Cyberduck there, all works perfectly in all localisations. |
I've just enabled root user but Cyberduck acts the sam way |
I'm sorry - my foult. IT WORKS IN ROOT ACCOUNT |
The latest build (5270) stoll shows the problem with polish (i guess with russian and czech as well) J |
Affected localizatons known so far
Known workaround is to type |
Replying to [comment:32 dkocher]:
It's not a workaround working in 100%, opening Cyberduck (build 5270) via Terminal gives the same result, no main window and grayed-out menu items. 10.6.1, PL, upgraded from 10.5 if it matters. |
Cyberduck work fine with sudo: |
For me running with sudo doesn't work. 10.6.1 PL |
Neither for me. -- |
I don't matter russian language in Cyberduck. So I made a dirty hack:
And now I can use Cyberduck as usual only with standard English locale |
Replying to [comment:37 Yokujin Yokosuka]:
Thanks for posting this! Based on this information, an easier workaround is to move away the file
It will be recreated when you shuffle around the preferred localizations in system preferences. You will have to restart the Finder.app after removing the file. Warning: I don't currently know what implications this has to other applications. |
I do that:
and restart Finder but it still doesnt't work. |
Replying to [comment:38 dkocher]:
Except for that I want English locale only in single app (Cyberduck.app) - all other apps still have to work in Russian locale... |
Fixed as of revision 233 in rococoa. Updated nightly (Build 5276) available. |
Build 5276 work system language: slovak and czech works fine. |
Yes! Build 5276 works in Russian locale! Thanks a lot! |
Confirmed! Build 5276 - Russian locale - Works great! |
Polish locale is also working! Thanks a lot! |
