Invalidations are not working if the filename contains a special character - like @.

It seems Cyberduck is sending the @ symbol as %40, which may be confusing Cloudfront (see attached).
Invalidations performed manually via the AWS console (using the actual @ symbol) work as expected (see attached).

We should not URI encode the paths to invalidate. Refer to Invalidation paths.
