MaterialXS is an "eXtra Small" Python
implementation of MaterialX, released on April 25th 2017 by J Cube Inc. as open source under the Apache 2.0 License. MaterialXS is specifically designed to ease the transfer of materials (full shading networks) and look–development content between DCC without the need for the MaterialX C++ libraries.
MaterialX is an work-in-progress open project that aims at transfering rich material and look–development content between DCC applications and renderers. It was originally announced in July 2016 by Lucasfilm, in collaboration with Foundry and Autodesk.
MaterialXS is currentrly compatible with MaterialX v1.33 specifications:
