I am following the same tutorial as you (lazy foo's). What you have is way way better than mine.
I got this working and tested on FreeBSD 11-CURRENT and OS X Yosemite.
I had to do some fixes to get it to compile correctly. Both machines build successfully with Clang 3.7. I'm not sure if this breaks building in Visual Studio.

I haven't tested this on any linux distros, but since it's using CMake it should find the libraries correctly across all POSIX-like platforms, as long as the apt-get/yum the headers.
