FlightLine is a set of tools I wrote to preprocess and parse NMEA 0183 output and store in sqlite databases. A neat feature is that I also use it to output static Google map images like so:

This was a flight to Half Moon Bay and Livermore.

The code is highly specialized for use with the AMOD GPS Logger 3080, but could easily be switched for something else.

FlightLine makes use of the excellent GPSBabel package. To use for your platform just copy the command line gpsbabel to bin and rename it to your sys.platform value.

I use this in conjunction with a cron job to watch for incoming logs and to process them when I’ve uploaded a new one.
