Support subdirectories in _data #2082

I would like to embed a git submodule inside the _data directory. Like a shared database for several projects. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s impossible until Jekyll can read files inside of data subdirectories.

Right now, we're only reading yaml files directly inside _data, not in subdirectories. There are a lot of questions as to how we namespace them in Liquid and such. If you have time for a PR, I have time to review it! :)

I'd add that JSON would be nice, like Middleman. http://middlemanapp.com/advanced/local-data/

Alright, we'll punt on this for 2.0.0 and revisit it for future versions of Jekyll.

This seems pretty straightforward to implement. Since I really need this feature, I'll have my first go with Ruby here. Unless someone is already doing it, of course.
