--paginate doesn't create correct folders #397

Using the paginate setting doesn't create the _page2, _page3 etc. folders in my _site directory, and so pagination doesn't work. I've racked my brains, but can't work out why this is happening!

I have worked out that this is due to using 'index.markdown' instead of 'index.html'. Is there any reason that pagination can't be used in a markdown file?

Thanks, I worked that out eventually, with my very limited knowledge of
ruby. My question was more along the lines of why there needs to be such a
static check, out whether it would be trivial to allow the use of a markdown
index page rather than html?

#936 takes care of this static check and the folders thing is an invalid bug filing.
