Jekyll does not regenerate content when 'title' in _config.yml changes #681

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start "jekyll --server"
  2. Open _config.yml for editing
  3. change site's title
  4. Reload site in the browser

Expected: site title to change according to the latest edit in _config.yml
Observed: old title stays
Workaround: restart jekyll

This is not a bug. Jekyll cannot reload _config.yml on the fly, and will not for the foreseeable future. It's just not practical (could change port, etc, which could really f things up). The only way to handle this is to restart Jekyll.

In my case, Jekyll still reads the old _config.yml even after restarting Jekyll several times. The _config.yml file it keeps using doesn't even exist but it still uses those settings. Any workaround?

It would be nice to have something like @rtomayko's shotgun for _config.yml files, though, especially if using Rake, Grunt, Gulp, etc. If you're changing port numbers and expecting it to “just work”, well, you get what you get. :)
