To convert my old site I'm adding a permalink to all the old posts so whatever crazy names the posts had will be preserved, for example:

permalink: /2010/04/30/foo_bar_baz.html

However when generating the site, jekyll instead makes

/2010/04/30/foo_bar_baz.html/index.html

so the URL will be /2010/04/30/foo_bar_baz.html/ which is not what I wanted. :-)

Is this intentional? Is there a way to configure it?

I also tried using

permalink: /:year/:month/:date/foo_bar_baz.html

in the YAML, but then it just used that verbatim.

@tristen

You want to write it like this:

permalink: /2010/04/30/foo_bar_baz
