Live TV Playback Fails

Describe the bug

As detailed in this forum post, attempting to load Live TV in Swiftfin on iOS results in a playback failure. However, Live TV functions correctly on all other Jellyfin clients, including the iOS mobile app, Android TV, JMP, and WebUI (Firefox and Chrome).

I'm experiencing this issue also.

I can stream Live TV (IPTV) through the IOS Jellyfin app, and through Safari, but not Swiftfin iOS. I've tried both the Swiftfin and Native players, and used the "most compatible" and bitrate settings, to no effect.

What happens: Click on an IPTV stream I get a black screen with the words "Retrieving media information", a spinning loading circle, and a Cancel button.

Apart from that, no issues. I can play Live TV recordings, as well as any other TV show and movie in my library. Only IPTV streams are problematic, and only on Swiftfin iOS. I can stream IPTV to non-Swiftfin apps and a Windows machine.

My Jellyfin is served from a Docker container on a Synology NAS on the same LAN as my phone. I'm using the same phone as OP.

I am also having this issue. I cannot play any live tv in Swiftfin. It also doesn’t play reliably in the standard Jellyfin app either on iOS. Not sure what’s going on.

First, appreciate all the work that has been done. I notice the same issue as stated. Jellyfin iOS client works well from what I can tell and the look is just like the web client which looks great. Anyway to make a port of the jellyfin iOS client available for tvOS while Swiftfin development continues?

No. Apple does not allow webviews in tvOS apps.
