Option to disable Automatic Gain Control #8442
Comments
You can use a URL parameter to disable it: #config.disableAGC=true. Anecdotally, I use a Yeti myself and have never seen this problem on macOS. |
As fas as i've seen on the internet, the problem is widespread especially on linux in general (not specifically on Jitsi Meet).
Any chance of introducing this to the UI ? At least power users can make use of it |
There is a chance, yes, but can't provide an ETA, sorry. |

This was being a nightmare to me. If anyone speaks near me, gain is increased. If my dog barks outside, gain increased again. |

Bad bot |
But how do I use it on the Android app? |
Is your feature request related to a problem you are facing?
yes
Description
Due to this (bug ?) "Issue 435112: Gain control raises mic volume when unwanted / unneeded" in chromium being marked as
wontfix
, it can be a nightmare to use Jitsi meet or any webRTC-based application on chromium/chrome. As mentioned in this pulseaudio issue, if the webRTC application did not allow an option for disabling automatic gain control, you're better off using another browser such as Mozilla Firefox.Alternatives
Thanks to folks over askubuntu, this excellent extension "Disable Automatic Gain Control" by @joeywatts does the trick without much effort. It offers a button to disable ACG, which should ideally be implemented in the application for the unforeseen future
