This doesn't seem possible now, AFAICT. IIRC it was possible before the recent redesign.

If I create a file in Dillinger and try to "Save To" > "Github", I get the error dialog:

This is intended behavior as you can't create a file then push. We need the report info a priori

Does the github API not allow you to create files? It seems like it does via the endpoint that dillinger is already using; or maybe I'm misunderstanding?

it does. but then a repo has to exist or you have to create the repo then
push to it, etc. this is a TON of work for dillinger as it is just a
markdown editor.

so, we will pull IN your md file from an existing github repo.

in the case repo exists and you want to create a new file and push to it,
then that could be added.

take a crack at it!

cool, yea I am only intending to describe the case where we add files to
existing repos. I will try to find some time to come up to speed on the
codebase and see what it would take to add it

In this case, yeah that would be ideal, right?

Can you edit this feature request to read 'Feature Request: create new markdown file in existing git repository'? I misread the same way.
