If that (plus difflib) is equivalent to the code we're using right now (difflib.py) then I'm for using that StackOverflow code.

This is very low priority but maybe someone wants to have a little fun here.

Do you mean klaus/diff.py? If yes, the SO answer does something very different: create a diff from two texts which is not neccessarily the output of git diff.
