I'm attempting to run the script on a fresh Ubuntu server image and it exits when it reaches the RVM installation. It does create directories and download RVM but RVM fails to install properly. Here are the last 30 lines of the install log:

Unpacking git-core (from .../git-core_1%3a1.7.1-1.1ubuntu0.1_all.deb) ...
Processing triggers for man-db ...
Setting up liberror-perl (0.17-1) ...
Setting up libdigest-sha1-perl (2.13-1) ...
Setting up git (1:1.7.1-1.1ubuntu0.1) ...
Setting up git-core (1:1.7.1-1.1ubuntu0.1) ...

Reading extended state information...
Initializing package states...
Writing extended state information...
Initialized empty Git repository in /home/james/.rvm/src/rvm/.git/
Unrecognized option: --prefix

  Usage:

    /home/james/.rvm/src/rvm/scripts/install [options]

  options:

--auto : Automatically update shell profile files.

--prefix : Installation prefix directory (rvm_path).

--help : Display help/usage (this) message

--version : display rvm package version

I'm not sure if this is an issue with RVM or the installation script. I've tried this on both 10.10 and 11.04, both 64bit server instances with the same results. Suggestions appreciated.

I just ran into this the other day myself. Looks like I need to change the
RVM install method. I'll keep in touch.
