open data: share jQuery's Splunk data (via splunkd or CSV) #15

open up the jQuery data to the outside world via Splunk API.

OOOR, at the very least, we can build a script that will extract output from saved searches, and make available a CSV file on a web server.

if we are to expose splunkd, we will need to (this may be an ambitious goal, but could be interesting):

  • cache responses
  • for authentication, share a user/password, expose tokens, or slipstream credentials
    • if we put a form online that hands out tokens, we could add a captcha
  • white list endpoints
    • filter parameters
    • filter search terms (only allow certain indexes, and search string length)
  • rate limit per IP or token
