Test environment:
HTC Wildfire with Android 2.3.5
jQuery Mobile 1.2.0
jQuery 1.8.2
Phonegap / Cordova 2.1 (=>Webview, Browser is ok)

<div data-role="page" style="background:red !important">
  <div data-role="header">

  <div data-role="content">
    Some content

  <div data-role="footer" data-position="fixed">
     <input type="text">
     <button type="button">Send</button>

If you tap the input field a second input field becomes visible (photo). The input is the same. Even the cursor is duplicated. If I hide the keyboard the second input field becomes invisible.

I got same issue.. any solution?

@twicks @sajithvk

This is an Android bug. See also #5728 (comment)

Can you test if adding this fixes the issue?

input[type="text"] {
  -webkit-user-modify: read-write-plaintext-only;

@viviangledhill @sajithvk @jaspermdegroot Looks like there hasn't been any activity on this issue for a while. Is this still an open issue? Or did @jaspermdegroot 's suggestion fix it? If it's fixed can we close it out for cleanup?

For me this one fixed the issue.

input[type="password"], input[type="text"]{
  -webkit-transform: translate3d(0, 10000px, 0);

I copied your code into a cordova application.

cordova 3.7.0
jQuery 1.11
jQuery-mobile latest custom build

on my Android Nexus 7 running Android 4.4.4

I was unable to duplicate the issue. Sounds like, based on the other comments, that it was a problem with an older version of android 2.3.5. I was unable to find a 2.3.5 version of Genymotion but tried on version 2.3.7 and was unable to reproduce.

I got the isssue on Android 2.3.6, Samsung GT-s5360. I was able to reproduce this on virtual device too. Hope this helps!

Which emulator did you use to duplicate @KrIsHnA-Revoked ...I'll be able to help look into this if I can reproduce and right now I have exhausted my options. What android version is the emulator you're seeing the error running?

I think I was able to reproduce it using avd for version 2.3.3 ( API level 10!) , used resolution of 240x320. The same was also visible on Samsung GT-S7500 .

@KrIsHnA-Revoked can you please post a test page using latest code in jsbin ( i know this is a cordova issue just post your simple code that reproduces this to jsbin so we can use it )

@KrIsHnA-Revoked @arschmitz No activity for over a month on this. Unable to reproduce, no test page.
