When I disable linkBindingEnabled and hashListeningEnabled as shown below, jQuery mobile still automatically loads pages based on the hash. When I put back the old Jquery Mobile 1.2 everything works as expected.

$.mobile.linkBindingEnabled = false;
$.mobile.hashListeningEnabled = false;

This is a bug with the new nav. This will be corrected before release.

This should restore the functionality intended by the hashListeningEnabled property on $.mobile. Post back here if it's still an issue.

If it is a fix please go ahead and close it.

Thanks for taking the time to report the problem!

I'm using JQM 1.3.0 beta 1 in combination with backbone. And it seems that JQM still handles hash changes even when I set linkBindingEnabled and hashListeningEnabled to false. I made 2 jsfiddles to illustrate the issue.

Can you test with latest code please. See links in here http://jsbin.com/izohig/1/edit

It works with the latest version. I didn't read the contrib guidelines so I didn't try it with the right version. Sorry for that.
