When using text controls in Safari in combination with css column-count you cannot see your text until such time as the control looses focus in column 2 and higher.

Example:
http://jsbin.com/uhefac/26/edit

Column 1 entry is fine, Column 2 is not.
Issue appears in desktop Safari (Windows) and iOS.

I stripped the test page, did some debugging and was able to fix it by setting position: static; for the wrapper of the text input: http://jsbin.com/uhefac/30
However, this did not fix it on the original test page. In other words... more debugging required.

Thanks for checking it out. If this doesn't get resolved before my go live (May) it'll be a place to start investigating a workaround.

I think I made a mistake when I tested that fix I found. Setting .fieldsetGroup .field div.ui-input-text { position: static; } does fix the issue in your case as well: http://jsbin.com/uhefac/35/edit

I am not sure yet if we can include the fix in the framework CSS. Depends on if it could cause problems in other situations. Will look into that for 1.3.1.

Sounds promising.
Thanks!

@gvanberkel

I tested this again. It seems like the bug is fixed on desktop Safari. On iPad / Mobile Safari I still see issues with the inputs though. This is a Safari bug that also appears without jQuery Mobile and that we can't fix. At this point I wouldn't recommend using column-count to layout forms.

Closing this ticket as not a bug at our end / won't fix.
