Add function to format date

I want a function which can format the date in a specified format. For example-
{ "createdAt" : "2023-05-24 11:00:00" }
Function which formats the date-
$.createdAt.format("dd-MM-yyyy")
Expected output-

{ "createdAt" : "24-05-2023" }
