For the time beeing I would have to configure each account at the ejabberd server (which resides on the open Internet while my OC server is proxied behind NAT - so external auth is not an option)

Are there plans to implement this feature in the near future?

No, we are currently focusing on the rewrite of JSXC.

Also, as JSXC is generally integrated into an existing web application which already has a registration system, I do not think that this is necessary. In fact, I believe it will create more confusion.

If the hosting web app's account/registration system cannot be used by your XMPP server, please have a look at XMPP Cloud Authentication. It is very well integrated into ]JSXC for Nextcloud](https://github.com/nextcloud/jsxc.nextcloud), but could be integrated into any other web application.

Hi, I have just discovered jsxc. First I became super excited as I thought I finally found a great video-enabled xmpp web client to be used as an standalone chatroom, but as I realized that jsxc has no direct registration feature, and you have no plan to provide that, I'm really frustrated.
I wish you change your mind and add this crucial feature. I see no reason why this excellent package should need cloud bells and whistles in order to let users to simply register and chat. It will definitely increase the usefulness of the app by orders of magnitude.

I'm really frustrated.

If you have more time then us, grab a cup of coffee and create a pull request. This is a community project and we do what we can in our free time, but currently we have other priorities. If you like you can also post a bounty on bountysource.com to boost this feature.
