I am trying to run the Demo as it is described here: http://star.mit.edu/cluster/docs/0.93.3/manual/getting_started.html
The executable's name is demo. I checked all the option mentioned in the checklist, and they were fine. However, I am getting only one process instead of 4.

Please let me know where it is going wrong.

mpirun -n 4 -host master,node001,node002,node003 Demo
master: hello world from process 0 of 1
node001: hello world from process 0 of 1
node002: hello world from process 0 of 1
node003: hello world from process 0 of 1

same problem here

For me it seems to be the same problem as issue 215 and 370; openmpi for mpirun yet mpich2 for mpicc.

sgeadmin@master:/data/toys$ mpirun -V
mpirun (Open MPI) 1.4.5

Report bugs to http://www.open-mpi.org/community/help/
sgeadmin@master:/data/toys$ mpicc -v
mpicc for MPICH2 version 1.4.1

jtriley says the temporary fix is:

$ update-alternatives --config mpi
$ update-alternatives --config mpirun

I tried those command, didnt work :(,

I also looked into issue 215, 370, tried different ami image in the config files, still didnt work :(

any chance there is a ami that will just work? thx!

This issue exists (openmpi vs mpich2) in current AMI:
[1] ami-80bedfb0 us-west-2 starcluster-base-ubuntu-13.04-x86_64-hvm (HVM-EBS)
