Hello to the Java User Group Cologne!
The regulars' table takes place each last Friday of every month -- since the year 2002! It takes place at TapaVinho, Köln. It starts at 07.00 pm. It is a great opportunity to connect to the community, discuss latest (technical) news, and even present some hot stuff!

This JUG is operated as a platform. This means, in addition to the offerings described here on this page, you are very welcome to engage with the community and flexibly host an event yourself, under our umbrella, on a curated self-service base. One example could be that you organize event(s) in our Meetup group. Please note, before we assign any roles in Meetup, you are encouraged to contact us personally and to visit us at our regulars' table. In any case, joining us at our monthly meetup is an intuitive and highly recommended starting point for your engagement.

How does a JUG relate to a platform? Answer: While running as a classic JUG for decades, some years back we moved to an approach that is comparable with a technical platform: Everybody eager to engage with the community can either participate in the offered meetups or can simply organize an event herself.

Why do you run the JUG as a platform? Answer: Morphing to a modern setup, we combine both, a classic structure with options to freely extend the existing offering. In the past, people often over-committed while planning to actively contribute to the JUG. As a platform, while scaling-up with open extension points, we offer simple entry paths for people to engage with the community.

How can I contribute? Answer: Our regulars' table is what the name suggests. In addition, it does often contain space to present about technical topics similar to an unconference or an open space format. If you are eager to organize an entire event yourself, under our umbrella, you could either just do that and give us the information to point to it. Or we can provide you with a role in our Meetup group and you can autonomously organize the happening. Just get in contact with us to explore details how to start. We are more than happy to welcome you to join us at our regulars' table to exchange with us in person.
